The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has indicated that a shallow westerly wave will likely impact the upper and western regions of the country beginning on Friday evening or tonight. This weather system is anticipated to bring partly cloudy conditions, accompanied by rain, wind, and thunderstorms, to the twin cities. Additionally, similar weather is expected at isolated locations in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Northeastern Balochistan, south-central Punjab, the Pothohar region, and Kashmir during this period.
The forecast for Islamabad over the weekend includes maximum temperatures ranging between 36 and 38 degrees Celsius on both Saturday and Sunday. In Rawalpindi, temperatures are expected to range between 37 and 39 degrees Celsius on Saturday, and between 38 and 40 degrees Celsius on Sunday.
In contrast to the upcoming wet weather, the last 24 hours saw hot and dry conditions prevailing in the twin cities and across much of Pakistan. Dadu and Jacobabad recorded the highest temperatures in the country, peaking at 48 degrees Celsius.

Islamabad experienced a maximum temperature of 40 degrees Celsius, with relative humidity recorded at 53 percent in the morning. Rawalpindi's maximum temperature was slightly lower at 38 degrees Celsius, with morning humidity at 38 percent.
As the rain and thunderstorms approach, residents of Islamabad and Rawalpindi are advised to prepare for potentially disruptive weather while remaining alert to updates from the PMD.
