Pakistan Weather Update: Light Rain Expected in Islamabad and Parts of the Country

• Light to moderate rains are expected in Islamabad, Rawalpindi, and parts of Pakistan.
• This is due to a shallow westerly wave over upper Pakistan, likely to persist for the next 36 hours.
• Maximum temperatures in Islamabad and Rawalpindi will range from 29 to 31 degrees Celsius.

Islamabad and Rawalpindi, along with several parts of Pakistan, are expected to experience light to moderate rains on Thursday evening and Friday, according to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD).

A shallow westerly wave is currently present over the upper regions of Pakistan and is likely to persist for the next 36 hours, causing these weather conditions.

Specifically, isolated places in upper Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, Gilgit-Baltistan, Kashmir, Islamabad, Rawalpindi, and the Pothohar region are expected to witness light to moderate rain accompanied by wind and thunderstorms on Thursday evening and night.

On Friday, most parts of the country are expected to have mainly dry weather, with hotter temperatures in southern areas. However, isolated areas in upper Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, Gilgit-Baltistan, Kashmir, and nearby hilly regions may experience light rain, wind, and thunderstorms.

In terms of temperature, Islamabad is expected to have maximum temperatures ranging between 29 and 31 degrees Celsius on Friday and 30-32 degrees Celsius on Saturday. Similarly, Rawalpindi's maximum temperatures will range from 28 to 30 degrees Celsius on Friday and 30-32 degrees Celsius on Saturday.

In the past 24 hours, rain, wind, and thunderstorms have occurred in isolated places in upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Kashmir, Gilgit-Baltistan, and the Pothohar region. Here are some rainfall measurements recorded:

• Khyber Pakhtunkhwa: Kalam 20mm, Balakot 06mm, Dir (Upper) 05mm, Chitral, Drosh 04mm, Bacha Khan (A/P) 02mm, Peshawar 01mm
• Kashmir: Garhi Dupatta 15mm, Muzaffarabad (City 06mm, Airport 04mm), Rawalakot, Kotli 02mm

The rest of Pakistan experienced dry weather, with Nawabshah recording the highest temperature at 40 degrees Celsius. In Islamabad, the maximum temperature was 29 degrees Celsius, with a relative humidity of 67 percent during the evening. Similarly, in Rawalpindi, the maximum temperature was 29 degrees Celsius, with a relative humidity of 51 percent during the evening.
