KARACHI: Meteorologist Jawad Memon has predicted that Karachi is likely to experience extremely hot and humid weather on Monday, with temperatures ranging between 38°C and 40°C.
Due to high humidity levels, the feels-like temperature may exceed 43°C, he added.
Explaining the reason behind the intense heat and humidity, Memon said that sea breezes have been cut off due to a strong post-monsoon low-pressure system, which is currently present over Gujarat, India.
“This low-pressure system may further intensify into a depression,” he noted, adding that under the influence of this system, sea winds remain suspended in Karachi.
He further stated that there is a possibility of the system moving towards the Arabian Sea, which could impact Karachi’s weather conditions and may lead to rainfall once the system shifts closer to the coast.
On the other hand, hot and dry weather is expected to prevail across most parts of the country today, according to the Meteorological Department.
In southeastern Sindh, the weather is likely to remain partly cloudy, with chances of thunderstorms and rainfall accompanied by gusty winds at a few places. Areas including Umerkot, Tharparkar, Badin, Mithi, and Sujawal may experience rain with thunder and strong winds.
The weather in Islamabad and its surrounding areas is forecast to remain hot and dry throughout the day.
In Gilgit-Baltistan, partly cloudy conditions are expected, while most districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa will experience hot and dry weather. However, Chitral, Dir, Swat, and Kohistan may witness partly cloudy skies.
