LAHORE: The Punjab School Education Department announced on Friday that summer vacations for schools and colleges in the province will begin on June 1 and end on August 14, 2024.
The notification stated that all public and private schools in Punjab will be closed from Saturday, June 1, 2024, to Wednesday, August 14, 2024. The schools will reopen on Thursday, August 15, 2024.
This announcement follows a similar decision by the Balochistan Education Department regarding summer vacations for schoolchildren.
In addition, the Secretary of Education has revised the timings for federally-run educational institutions due to the increasing risk of heatwaves. These institutions will now start from 7:30 AM to 1:00 PM. The new schedule is effective immediately and will continue until the summer break begins.
The Secretary of Education emphasized that the change aims to protect students and teachers from the anticipated heatwave.
