The Sindh High Court has officially welcomed 12 new additional judges. The oath ceremony was conducted by the Chief Justice of the Sindh High Court, Justice Mohammad Shafi Siddiqui.
The newly sworn-in judges are Justice Miran Mohammad Shah, Justice Tasneem Sultana, Justice Hassan Akbar, Justice Abdul Hamid Bhurgari, Justice Jan Ali Junejo, Justice Ali Haider, Justice Mohammad Jafar Reza, Justice Khalid Hussain Shahani, Justice Riyazat Ali Seher, Justice Faiz-ul-Hassan Shah, Justice Nisar Ahmad, and Justice Mohammad Usman Ali Hadi.
Following the oath-taking, the total number of judges in the Sindh High Court has increased to 40. This expansion strengthens the judiciary and ensures more efficient handling of cases.
Earlier, on Monday, President Asif Ali Zardari appointed 12 additional judges to the Sindh High Court. Meanwhile, Chief Justice of Pakistan Yahya Afridi has called for a meeting of the Judicial Commission of Pakistan on February 11 to review candidates for the eight vacant positions in the Supreme Court.
A notification issued by the Ministry of Law and Justice said: “In exercise of the powers conferred by Article 197 read with clause (8) of Article 175A of the Constitution of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, the President of Pakistan is pleased to appoint following persons as Additional Judges of the High Court of Sindh for a period of one year with effect from the date they make oath of their offices.”
The Judicial Commission of Pakistan (JCP) approved the appointments of 12 additional judges of SHC on Jan 23.
