Senator Faisal Vawda, in an exclusive interview with Bol News, stated that recent decisions will strengthen Pakistan while increasing challenges for the PTI founder.
He remarked that former intelligence officer Lt. Gen. Faiz Hameed has provided evidence and testimony, leaving no room for leniency for the PTI founder. "It has been proven that powerful individuals are being held accountable just like ordinary citizens," Vawda emphasized.
The senator argued that selective accountability is unacceptable. "If Faiz Hameed has been charge-sheeted, how can the PTI founder escape? The events of May 9 were part of a calculated conspiracy, and a robust system of accountability has been enforced," he added.
Vawda further stated that PTI supporters believed Faiz Hameed would save them, but the consequences have sent a clear and cautionary message to everyone.
He also disclosed that PTI had planned a civil disobedience movement for December 14 but claimed that the party's momentum has fizzled out. "The balloon of PTI has lost its air," Vawda concluded.
Notably, Former intelligence chief retired Lt Gen Faiz Hameed has been “formally arraigned on charges of engaging in political activities”on Tuesday.
According to the Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR), on 12 August 2024, process of field general court-martial (FGCM) was initiated against Lt Gen Faiz Hamid (Retd) under provisions of Pakistan Army Act and in first place Lt Gen Faiz Hameed (Retd) has been formally arraigned on charges of engaging in political activities, violations of Official Secret Act detrimental to safety and interest of the state, misuse of authority & government resources and causing wrongful loss to a person(s).
During the process, involvement of Lt Gen Faiz Hamid (Retd), in events related to creating agitation and unrest, leading upto multiple incidents including but not limited to 9th May 2023 incident for fomenting instability; at the behest of and in collusion with vested political interests, is also being separately investigated.
Lt Gen Faiz Hamid (Retd) is being afforded with all legal rights as per the law.
