KARACHI: Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P) Convener Dr. Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui has assured the voters and supporters of fulfilling all promises after coming into power.
He said this while addressing a big public gathering in Bagh-e-Jinnah in connection with the upcoming 2024 General Elections on Sunday.
He expressed gratitude to the people of Karachi for their overwhelming presence, deeming the event a success.
Siddiqui highlighted that the MQM-P had predicted the people's verdict for January 21, preceding the polls on February 8, and asserted that the promise has been fulfilled.
MQM senior leader Farooq Sattar assured that once in power, his party will put an end to gas loadshedding in Karachi.
Emphasizing the heightened organization of MQM-P, Siddiqui's Senior Deputy Convener, Syed Mustafa Kamal, asserted plans to seize powers from the chief minister's office and decentralize authority to the grassroots level. Kamal underscored the enduring support of Karachi residents for the "Kite," symbolizing MQM-P in elections.
Dr. Farooq Sattar addressed the large attendance at the gathering, accusing the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) of securing the Mayor Karachi position through alleged coercion. He vowed to reclaim the purportedly stolen mandate and elect a Mayor Karachi of their choosing.
Additional MQM-P leaders, including Anees Qaimkhani and Nasreen Jalil, also addressed the gathering. The party had previously announced 19 candidates for the national assembly from Karachi, listing their names and constituencies, as part of their preparations for the upcoming elections.
