KARACHI: The water level in the Indus River continues to fall at Guddu and Sukkur barrages. According to the latest data, Guddu Barrage has now reached a low flood level, with inflow recorded at 273,651 cusecs and outflow at 244,887 cusecs. At Sukkur Barrage, the inflow has dropped to 351,953 cusecs, while the outflow stands at 296,933 cusecs.
Meanwhile, the Kotri Barrage downstream has seen a rise in water inflow to 328,142 cusecs, with an outflow of 337,197 cusecs.
The situation worsened after a breach in the Loop Bund two days ago, which caused floodwater to reach Bakhri town in Naushahro Feroz district. Water entered homes, shops, and even local schools, forcing residents into difficult conditions.
Floodwaters have also damaged crops on hundreds of acres of farmland and spread into villages, including Pir Mehdi Shah, Nazar Samtio, Misri Samtio, and Dawood Samtio.
In the Jamshoro district, more than 130 villages have been submerged, cutting off road links to several areas such as Buddhapur and Manzoor Abad. In Sehwan and Manjhand, dozens of settlements have gone underwater, leaving residents struggling to cope with the rising river.
