UNITED NATIONS: Pakistan’s Ambassador to the UN, Asim Iftikhar, has called on the United Nation Security Council to play an active role in facilitating a ceasefire between Iran and Israel.
Speaking during a crucial Security Council session on the Iran-Israel conflict, Ambassador Iftikhar strongly condemned Israeli aggression and unlawful actions against Iran.
He emphasized that Pakistan supports a peaceful resolution to the conflict, warning that continued Israeli hostilities pose a serious threat to regional stability and peace.
Pakistan’s Permanent Representative to the UN, Asim Iftikhar, stated that Israel’s attacks on Iran are a clear violation of the UN Charter and called for a peaceful resolution to Iran’s nuclear issue through dialogue.
Addressing the UN Security Council, Iftikhar said Pakistan stands in solidarity with its Iranian brothers against Israeli aggression. He stressed that the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) must operate with complete impartiality and objectivity in handling nuclear matters.
Earlier, Iran has declared that it will not engage in nuclear negotiations as long as Israeli attacks continue, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi.
The statement came after high-level discussions held in Geneva, Switzerland, where the foreign ministers of Germany, France, and the United Kingdom met with their Iranian counterpart.
Speaking to the media after the meeting, Abbas Araghchi said the talks with European leaders were “serious and dignified,” but reiterated Iran’s firm stance that dialogue on nuclear matters cannot proceed amid ongoing Israeli aggression.
