ISLAMABAD: At least 799 people have lost their lives and 1,080 others have been injured in rain- and flood-related incidents across Pakistan since June.
According to the latest data of National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA), covering the period from June 26 to August 25, shows that 7,175 houses were damaged while 5,552 livestock perished due to the calamities.
Among the deceased are 203 children, 476 men, and 119 women. Meanwhile, rescue teams carried out 592 operations, saving the lives of more than 106,000 people.
According to the NDMA, the highest number of 497 deaths were recorded in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, while 165 people were reported in Punjab, 55 in Sindh and 24 in Balochistan. 45 people were killed in Gilgit -Baltistan, 23 people were killed in Azad Jammu and Kashmir and 8 people were killed in the federal capital Islamabad.
A total of 1080 people were injured in flood -related incidents, including 286 children, 531 men and 257 women.
In Punjab, the highest 584 people were injured, 347 people were injured in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and 71 in Sindh. In addition, 42 people were injured in Gilgit -Baltistan, 28 in Azad Kashmir, 5 in Balochistan and 3 in Islamabad.
