ISLAMABAD: The federal government has approved the deployment of Pakistan Army  and Civil Armed Forces across the country in view of security concerns during Muharram.

A notification issued by the interior ministry stated that the government has sought the deployment of the military to maintain law and order during the month, which began on Sunday.

According to the notification issued by the federal government, the federal government has approved the deployment of Pakistan Army and Civil Armed Forces in Islamabad, Azad Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan.

The notification said that the details of Army deployment will be finalized with the concerned authorities. The Army and Civil Armed Forces have been deployed for an indefinite period.

According to the sources, the decision to deploy the Army and Civil Armed Forces was made in view of security during Muharram.

The matter of removing the Army and civil armed forces will be done after consultation with the relevant authorities. The details of Army deployment will be taken into consideration of the ground situation.

Earlier, Punjab, Sindh and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa have requested the federal government to suspend social media for one week to curb the spread of hate material on the internet.
