Healthy lifestyle can help reduce fat build-up in arteries

Dietary fiber plays a vital role in lowering cholesterol levels and clearing arteries.

Prolonged consumption of fatty foods leads to the accumulation of fat along the walls of arteries, causing them to narrow and significantly increasing the risk of stroke and heart attack, health experts warn.

While fat deposits in the arteries cannot disappear overnight, experts say they can be reduced and prevented from worsening through a healthy lifestyle and dietary changes.

The first and most crucial step is modifying daily diet. Fried foods, ghee, banaspati, and fast food should be minimized or completely avoided. Instead, vegetables, fruits, lentils, and whole grains such as barley and brown rice are strongly recommended.

Foods rich in Omega-3 fatty acids, including fish, flaxseeds, and walnuts, should be consumed more frequently as they help reduce arterial fat.

Health specialists also advise eating one to two cloves of garlic daily and using olive oil, while limiting or avoiding sugar and refined flour.

Dietary fiber plays a vital role in lowering cholesterol levels and clearing arteries. Regular physical activity is equally important.

Experts recommend 30 to 45 minutes of brisk walking daily, along with cycling or swimming. Exercise helps increase HDL (good cholesterol), which supports arterial health.

In addition, the use of turmeric, black pepper, and green tea is beneficial. Reducing sweets and consuming salt in moderation also contribute to lowering fat accumulation in arteries.

Medical professionals emphasize that consistent healthy habits, rather than short-term measures, are key to protecting the heart and preventing life-threatening conditions.
