U.S. President Donald Trump said Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has requested a White House meeting that could take place as early as next week, and suggested Netanyahu would follow his lead.
Speaking to Axios, Trump said Netanyahu made the request and that the meeting could take place after Trump returns from the NATO summit.
“We get along very good. [Netanyahu] knows who the boss is,” Trump said.

However, an Israeli official said the schedule is not confirmed because Trump is expected to travel to Turkey for the NATO summit on July 7–8. The official added that a meeting the following week is more likely than one immediately after the summit.
Axios reported that the possible meeting comes after months of growing disagreements between Trump and Netanyahu on several regional issues.
Trump approved a memorandum of understanding last month extending the ceasefire with Iran and starting renewed nuclear talks despite Netanyahu’s objections. He also pressed Israel to reduce military operations in Lebanon and support a plan that includes an initial withdrawal from southern Lebanon.
