Saudi Arabia has achieved a major international milestone by securing a seat on the prestigious International Maritime Organization (IMO) Council for the 2026–2027 term.

According to Saudi media, the Kingdom garnered 142 votes during the London elections, cementing its position as a leading voice in global maritime governance.

Saudi Transport Minister Saleh Al-Jasser highlighted that this landmark success underscores Saudi Arabia’s unwavering commitment to advancing maritime transport under the ambitious Saudi Vision 2030.

He further emphasized that the Kingdom’s membership reflects worldwide confidence in its strategic capabilities and leadership, marking a pivotal step in realizing Vision 2030’s developmental goals for the maritime sector.
