Iran restricts internet access amid fears of Israeli cyberattacks

Tehran: Due to the recent escalating tension, Iran have led to a complete shutdown of internet service in the country.

According to the Ministry of Intelligence and Communication Technology, this measure has been taken in view of security concerns to safeguard the country's internal stability.

According to the Internet Observatory, internet services have been non-operational in Iran for the past 12 hours, affecting the public and business activities.

Iranian authorities state that this step was taken to protect against potential cyberattacks from Israel, aiming to limit access to information within the country.

Officials further explained that the purpose of this action is to shield Iranian citizens from external information.

Iranian government spokesperson Fatemeh Mohajerani said the restrictions were “temporary, targeted, and controlled.”
