Sunetra Sastry, a skilled makeup artist, met Atkinson in the late 1980s while working on the set of the long-running comedy series "Blackadder." Their professional relationship quickly blossomed into a romantic one, leading to their marriage in 1990.
Sastry, of Anglo-Indian descent, was born in Newcastle upon Tyne, England. She pursued a career in makeup artistry, a field where she would later make significant contributions. Her work on television and film sets earned her a reputation for excellence, and it was this expertise that brought her into Atkinson's orbit.
During their marriage, the couple had two children: a son, Benjamin, and a daughter, Lily. The family maintained a relatively private life, despite Atkinson's international fame.
However, after 24 years of marriage, Atkinson and Sastry separated in 2014, finalizing their divorce in 2015. The separation marked the end of a significant era for both individuals. Post-divorce, Atkinson has continued his successful career in comedy and acting, while Sastry has maintained a low profile.
Sunetra Sastry's story is intertwined with Atkinson's, highlighting her contributions both as a professional in the entertainment industry and as a supportive partner during their years together.
