WNBA star Cameron Brink’s journey to professional basketball is rooted in her family’s deep connection to sports. Born on December 31, 2001, in Princeton, New Jersey, Cameron was influenced by her parents, Michelle Bain-Brink and Greg Brink, who were both basketball players at Virginia Tech. There, they forged a lifelong friendship with Dell and Sonya Curry, parents of NBA star Stephen Curry.

Cameron’s parents, who met at Virginia Tech, bonded over their shared love of basketball and eventually married. Their close friendship with the Currys extended to becoming Stephen Curry’s godparents. Despite their passion for the game, Michelle and Greg didn’t push Cameron into sports. It wasn’t until attending Stephen’s games and finding her competitive edge at a camp that Cameron embraced basketball.

Michelle and Greg both had successful careers at Nike, which took the family to Amsterdam for three years before settling in Beaverton, Oregon. Cameron and her older brother, Cy, grew up immersed in a sports-centric environment. Despite facing challenges like body-shaming and bullying in high school, Cameron persevered and thrived.

Cameron’s parents have been her steadfast supporters. They struggled with not being able to attend her games during the COVID-19 pandemic, highlighting their dedication. When Cameron was drafted by the Los Angeles Sparks in 2024, Michelle celebrated her daughter’s achievements, expressing pride and love on social media.

Cameron’s story is one of resilience, family support, and a lifelong connection to the sport that has shaped her career.
