The Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA), in partnership with the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) and the Oil Companies Advisory Council (OCAC), has launched a groundbreaking mobile application, "Raahguzar."
Designed using Geographic Information System (GIS) technology, the app enables users to find legal petrol pumps and stations across Pakistan.
The official launch event took place at OGRA’s head office in Islamabad, with attendance from senior officials of the Ministry of Energy (Petroleum Division), FBR, Customs, Explosives Department, as well as representatives from OCAC and the Oil Marketing Association of Pakistan (OMAP).
"Raahguzar" offers a platform that aids consumers, district governments, and law enforcement agencies in identifying illegal petrol stations, commonly known as "dabba stations." Additionally, the app allows users to file complaints regarding illegal outlets, overcharging, or quality concerns, thus encouraging greater transparency and accountability.
During the event, OGRA Chairman Masroor Khan, alongside the Member Oil and Finance, praised the initiative, emphasizing that it marks the beginning of a digitization drive to overhaul the oil supply chain. This launch serves as the first phase of a broader track-and-trace system, aimed at promoting accountability, preventing illegal activities, and improving the overall integrity of the oil industry in Pakistan.
Khan stated, "This initiative will address the challenges posed by illegal petrol pumps and malpractices, contributing significantly to the growth and sustainability of the oil sector in Pakistan."
The introduction of "Raahguzar" further underscores OGRA’s commitment to utilizing technology for effective governance, promoting transparency, and fostering a robust energy ecosystem.
