QUETTA: Mobile and internet services will remain suspended in parts of Balochistan due to security concerns, on Friday. According to the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA), the measure has been implemented to maintain law and order as directed by relevant authorities.
The suspension follows a deadly blast at the Quetta Railway Station on November 9, which claimed 26 lives and left more than 40 injured, including women and children.
Commissioner Quetta, Hamza Shafqaat, stated that the explosion occurred at 8:25 am during the departure of Jaffar Express, when a large number of passengers were present at the station.
Railway officials confirmed that two trains, Chaman Passenger and Jaffar Express, were scheduled to depart for Chaman and Peshawar, respectively, at the time of the blast. The attack caused significant disruption to rail operations.
After a four-day suspension, train services at Quetta Railway Station resumed on November 10. CEO of Pakistan Railways, Aamir Baloch, announced that services to and from Quetta had been restored following security clearance.
On November 14, the Jaffar Express departed as scheduled, and Bolan Mail is also expected to operate according to its timetable. The authorities continue to monitor the situation closely to ensure passenger safety.
