Earlier this year in February, there were rumors that xAI was in discussions with Midjourney about a potential partnership. Since then, there has been no further information about these talks. However, a recent discovery found a reference to Midjourney in the codebase of the standalone version of Grok.
Previously, it was known that xAI was developing image-generation capabilities for Grok. Now, it appears there might be features leveraging Midjourney. This implies that Grok could use Midjourney models via an API for image generation. If accurate, this would mark a major enhancement for the Grok AI model, as Midjourney AI is renowned for producing highly sophisticated images and is a leader in the field of image generation.
Additionally, it appears that the standalone version of Grok will soon allow users to upload images, indicating upcoming vision capabilities. This could be part of the upgrade to Grok 1.5, which has already started rolling out to users on X and on the standalone Grok version.
