Apple’s Watch Car Crash Detection Feature Protected 5 People after Accident

In a recent event in Canada, five individuals were saved following a car accident, thanks to the Car Crash detection feature present in Apple Watches. Introduced by Apple in 2022, this technology aims to enhance user safety in the event of a vehicular collision. The feature employs sensors embedded in iPhones and Apple Watches to automatically alert emergency services upon detecting a car crash.

As reported by KTLA 5, the incident occurred on the 15 Freeway at Jurupa Avenue in Ontario, San Bernardino. The Car Crash detection feature promptly notified the California Highway Patrol (CHP), leading to a swift response. Responders discovered a vehicle had crashed into a tree, and the affected passengers were promptly transported to a medical center for treatment, with two individuals sustaining injuries.

This successful rescue contributes to the growing instances where technology plays a crucial role in aiding individuals involved in accidents. The Car Crash detection feature not only notifies authorities promptly but also facilitates a rapid response to provide medical assistance to those in need.

It's essential to note that this is not an isolated incident, as a prior report highlighted the rescue of a couple after a car accident using the same technology. The compatibility of this feature extends to the iPhone 14 series, iPhone 15 series, Apple Watch 8, Apple Watch SE 2, and Apple Watch Ultra, including Watch Ultra 2. This development underscores how technological advancements, particularly in wearables like the Apple Watch, can directly and positively impact real-life emergencies, potentially saving lives.
