The team also includes three players from Afghanistan: wicketkeeper-batsman Rahmanullah Gurbaz, leg-spinner Rashid Khan, and fast bowler Fazalhaq Farooqi.
Nicholas Pooran from the West Indies and Marcus Stoinis from Australia round out the starting eleven, with South African fast bowler Anrich Nortje named as the twelfth man.

In a significant announcement, Rohit Sharma, alongside the seasoned batsman Virat Kohli, declared their retirement from T20 internationals following their historic victory.
In the final, South Africa fell short by seven runs while chasing a target of 177. Quinton de Kock and Heinrich Klaasen were the standout performers for South Africa, scoring 39 off 31 balls and 52 off 27 balls, respectively.
Rohit’s decision to bat first upon winning the toss initially appeared questionable as he, along with Rishabh Pant and Suryakumar Yadav, were dismissed early. However, Virat Kohli, who had a subdued tournament, came to life with a crucial 76 off 59 balls, propelling India to a final score of 176 for 7.
Upon receiving the Player of the Match award, Kohli confirmed his retirement from T20 internationals, marking the end of his illustrious T20 career that began in 2010. Over the course of his career, he played 125 T20Is and amassed 4,188 runs at an average of 48.69.
This victory marks India’s second T20 World Cup title, their first being in 2007 when they defeated Pakistan in the inaugural tournament. The win in 2024 also concludes a trophy drought for India, their last ICC trophy win being the Champions Trophy in 2013 under MS Dhoni’s captaincy.
