Pakistan cricket team opener Sahibzada Farhan has etched his name into the record books by becoming the highest run-scorer in a single edition of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup.
Farhan achieved the milestone during a crucial match against Sri Lanka national cricket team in the 2026 tournament.
The previous record was held by Virat Kohli, who scored 319 runs during the ICC Men's T20 World Cup.
Sahibzada Farhan has now surpassed the 319-run mark in the 2026 edition, setting a new benchmark for the most runs scored by a batter in a single T20 World Cup tournament.
The achievement marks a significant milestone for Pakistan cricket and highlights Farhan’s outstanding consistency and match-winning performances throughout the competition.
Earlier, in a thrilling Super 8 clash of the ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2026, Pakistan posted a challenging total of 212/8 in 20 overs against Sri Lanka national cricket team, thanks to a magnificent century by opener Sahibzada Farhan and a blazing 84-run knock by Fakhar Zaman.
Farhan and Zaman stitched together a 176-run partnership, the backbone of Pakistan’s innings, while no other batter reached double figures. Contributions from other players were minimal: Khawaja Nafay (2), Shadab Khan (7), Muhammad Nawaz and Salman Agha (0).
This was Sahibzada Farhan’s second century in the T20 World Cup 2026, making him the first cricketer to score two centuries in a single edition of the tournament.
Strategic Changes in Playing XI
For this key match, Pakistan made three changes in the playing XI: dropped: Babar Azam, Saeem Ayub, Salman Mirza and added: Naseem Shah, Khawaja Nafay and Abrar Ahmed.
