The International Cricket Council (ICC) has officially announced the nominees for the Player of the Tournament award in the T20 World Cup.

Among the shortlisted players is Pakistan’s opening batter Sahibzada Farhan, who delivered an outstanding performance during the tournament.

Farhan scored 383 runs in seven matches at an impressive average of 76.60 and a strike rate of 160.25. He also set a new record by scoring the most runs in a single edition of the T20 World Cup, achieving the milestone in just six innings.

The Pakistani opener also registered two centuries during the tournament, one against Sri Lanka national cricket team and another against Namibia national cricket team.

With these performances, Farhan became the only batter to score two centuries in a single T20 World Cup edition.

India’s wicketkeeper-batter Sanju Samson has also been shortlisted for the prestigious award.

Other nominees include England’s Will Jacks, South Africa’s Lungi Ngidi and Aiden Markram.

Additionally, New Zealand players Rachin Ravindra and Tim Seifert have been nominated, along with USA’s Shadley van Schalkwyk for the Player of the Tournament award.

Meanwhile, International Cricket Council has announced the match officials for the Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 final.

The final will be played between India national cricket team and New Zealand national cricket team on March 8 in Ahmedabad.

According to the ICC, Richard Illingworth and Alex Wharf will serve as the on-field umpires for the final.

Illingworth will officiate in a T20 World Cup final for the second consecutive time, while Wharf will be standing in a senior ICC World Cup final for the first time in his career.

For the title clash, Allahudien Paleker has been appointed as the third umpire, while Adrian Holdstock will perform the duties of fourth umpire.

Meanwhile, Andy Pycroft will serve as the match referee for the tournament final.
