LAHORE: Walee Technologies has acquired the Pakistan Super League (PSL) franchise Multan Sultans for PKR 2.45 billion in an auction held in Lahore.
The auction ceremony was attended by Pakistan Cricket Board Chairman Mohsin Naqvi, former PCB Chairman Najam Sethi, and cricket legend Zaheer Abbas.
Owners of Lahore Qalandars, Sameen Rana and Atif Rana, were also present at the Expo Centre Lahore, where the auction took place.
A total of five bidders participated in the Multan Sultans auction, with a base price set at PKR 1.82 billion.
According to PCB officials, six proposals were initially received, and after detailed technical evaluation, five bidders were deemed eligible to participate in the auction.
The sale follows former owner Ali Tareen’s refusal to renew the 10-year ownership agreement, prompting the PCB to announce the franchise’s re-auction.
The management of Wallee tech has announced that their franchise, formerly known as Multan Sultans, will be renamed Rawalpindi.
The decision marks a new chapter for the team as it prepares to participate under its new identity in the league.
The announcement was made during the franchise’s official event, highlighting the management’s vision to strengthen the team’s local presence and fan engagement in Rawalpindi.

Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Mohsin Naqvi is expected to meet the Prime Minister today to brief him on discussions with the International Cricket Council (ICC) delegation.
Pakistan had earlier decided to boycott the clash in solidarity with Bangladesh, which was removed from the tournament due to security concerns and its decision not to send its team to New Delhi.
The PCB, ICC, and Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) held over five hours of talks on Sunday, with Naqvi, BCB President Aminul Islam, and ICC Deputy Chairman Imran Khwaja in attendance.
Sources said the ICC responded positively to Bangladesh’s demands, and a formula to address the BCB’s grievances has been drafted. The PCB acted as the main coordinator during the discussions.
