BULAWAYO: The first ODI between Pakistan and Zimbabwe was interrupted by heavy rain in Bulawayo, halting play during Pakistan's run chase.

Pakistan, chasing a target of 206 runs, found themselves in deep trouble, losing six wickets for just 58 runs. Zimbabwe had set a target of 206 runs for Pakistan to win the first match of the three-match series.

Coming off a historic ODI series win against World Champions Australia in Australia, the Pakistan team entered this series with renewed confidence. This match also marks Pakistan's first series under new head coach Aaqib Javed.

Zimbabwe's Batting

In the Bulawayo match, Zimbabwe’s openers began aggressively but quickly lost momentum. At 40 runs, Joylord Gumbie was run out for 15 by Abdullah Shafique, and Dion Myers contributed just 8 runs.

Captain Craig Ervine (6), Tadiwanashe Marumani (29), Sean Williams (23), Brian Bennett (20), Brandon Mavuta (1), and Blessing Muzarabani (0) all fell cheaply.

A vital 62-run partnership for the eighth wicket between Sikandar Raza and Richard Ngarava offered resistance. Raza scored 39 before being dismissed by debutant Faisal Akram, while Ngarava top-scored with 48, hitting five fours and a six.

For Pakistan, vice-captain Salman Ali Agha and debutant Faisal Akram each took three wickets. Haris Rauf, Aamer Jamal, and Mohammad Hasnain claimed one wicket each, with a run-out accounting for another dismissal.

Toss and Team News

At the toss, Pakistan captain Mohammad Rizwan confirmed the debut of three players: Aamer Jamal, Haseebullah Khan, and Faisal Akram. Rizwan noted the importance of adapting to the conditions and highlighted the challenge of batting in the early overs.

Key players Babar Azam, Shaheen Shah Afridi, and Naseem Shah were rested for this series, giving new talent a chance to shine.

ODI Playing XI: Saim Ayub, Abdullah Shafique, Kamran Ghulam, Mohammad Rizwan (C), Haseebullah Khan, Salman Ali Agha, Irfan Khan Niazi, Aamer Jamal, Haris Rauf, Mohammad Hasnain, Faisal Akram.
