Mohammad Amir has once again announced his retirement from international cricket, delivering the news through a heartfelt post on his official X account (formerly Twitter). This decision comes just a day after fellow cricketer Imad Wasim also bid farewell to international cricket.

Amir expressed his emotions in his announcement, stating, "After careful consideration, I have taken the difficult decision to retire from international cricket. These decisions are never easy but are inevitable. I feel this is the right time for the next generation to take the baton and elevate Pakistan Cricket to new heights."

He added, "Representing my country has been and always will be the greatest honour of my life. I would sincerely like to thank the PCB, my family and friends, and, above all, my fans for their continuous love and support."

This marks Amir's second retirement, following his initial decision to step away in 2020 due to conflicts with team management. He returned earlier this year to participate in the ICC T20 World Cup 2024, where he showcased an impressive performance.

Amir's final appearance for Pakistan came during the group stage against Ireland, where he bowled a remarkable spell, taking 2 wickets for just 11 runs in four overs. Despite his stellar efforts throughout the tournament—claiming seven wickets in four matches at an average of 10.28—Pakistan was eliminated after group-stage losses to India and the USA.

The 32-year-old pacer made his international debut at 17 in the ICC T20 World Cup 2009, playing a key role in Pakistan’s title win. Over his career, he represented Pakistan in 36 Tests, 61 ODIs, and 62 T20Is, taking 271 wickets and scoring 1,179 runs across formats.

One of the standout moments of his career was his iconic spell in the 2017 ICC Champions Trophy final against India, where his early breakthroughs set the stage for Pakistan’s historic triumph under Sarfaraz Ahmed’s captaincy.
