The Pakistani delegation was headed by the Acting Chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) and Chief Election Commissioner, Shah Khawar, who was joined by the Chief Operating Officer (COO), Salman Naseer.
Shah Khawar, a lawyer by profession, actively participated in the meeting, expressing his disagreement and raising objections on several occasions. He maintained a constructive approach throughout the meeting.
Shami Silva, the President of Sri Lankan cricket, praised Jay Shah’s leadership and proposed extending his presidency for an additional year. Shah responded diplomatically, stating that they had no objections, but it should be recorded in the minutes that Sri Lanka has ceded its presidency to Jay Shah for a second year to avoid any confusion when Pakistan’s turn comes next year.
It has been agreed that a representative from the PCB will assume the presidency of the Asian Cricket Council for a two-year term starting from January of the following year.
Interestingly, there was a notable delay in distributing the minutes of the previous meeting. Salman Naseer had written a letter about this, but received no response.
Shah Khawar pointed out in the meeting that the minutes of the previous meeting were sent only three days ago, whereas they should have been sent immediately after the meeting.
Shah Khawar also objected when Jay Shah began to read and approve each agenda item instantly, suggesting that there should be some discussion before giving approval.
