Khawaja Saleem shares painful personal struggles and challenges

  • Veteran artist Khawaja Saleem, a PTV and film artist, lost his toes due to diabetes, causing gangrene.
  • He has sold his belongings and awards to manage his circumstances, living in his daughter's house.
Unfortunately, Pakistan does not provide special allowances for artists, and the government does not take responsibility for supporting individuals who spend their lives promoting a positive image of the country globally. Many old artists from PTV and films have experienced lives filled with pain and poverty after their prime ended, a fate that veteran artist Khawaja Saleem also faced.

Khawaja Saleem recently lost his toes due to diabetes, leading to gangrene in his foot. He now resides in his daughter’s house, having sold his own house, car, bikes, and even the awards he won for his acting to manage his circumstances. He revealed that no one came to assist him during this difficult time, highlighting that such treatment of an artist is unique to Pakistan.
