King Charles and Queen Camilla led members of the Royal Family in the Garter Day procession at Windsor Castle, joined by Prince William, Princess Kate and other senior royals for one of the most significant events in the royal calendar.
A statement posted on the Royal Family’s official Instagram account said, “The King and Queen, joined by members of the Royal Family, have attended a Service for the Most Noble of the Garter at St George’s Chapel in Windsor Castle.”
The Order of the Garter, founded by King Edward III nearly 700 years ago, is Britain’s oldest and most prestigious order of chivalry. Membership is limited to the Sovereign, the Queen, members of the Royal Family and a small group of individuals honored for their public service.

Before the ceremony, senior royals gathered for a luncheon at Windsor Castle and later proceeded to St George’s Chapel for the service. After the event, the royal family returned to the castle in a carriage procession.
Prince William joined the traditional procession wearing the order’s blue velvet robes. He has a long connection with the institution, having been made its 1,000th Knight by Queen Elizabeth II in 2008.
Princess Kate and Duchess Sophie observed the procession from the Galilee Porch alongside Sir Tim Laurence, the husband of Princess Anne.
