Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan is set to arrive in Pakistan on February 12 (tomorrow) for a two-day official visit at the invitation of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, the Foreign Office (FO) confirmed on Tuesday.
According to FO spokesperson Shafqat Ali Khan, President Erdogan will be accompanied by a high-level delegation, including ministers, senior officials, and corporate leaders.
During his visit from February 12 to 13, PM Shehbaz and President Erdogan will co-chair the 7th Session of the Pakistan-Turkiye High-Level Strategic Cooperation Council (HLSCC).
The session is expected to conclude with a joint declaration and the signing of multiple agreements and MoUs. The two leaders will also address a joint press briefing.
Additionally, President Erdogan will hold bilateral meetings with PM Shehbaz and President Asif Ali Zardari.
Alongside PM Shehbaz, he will also address the Pakistan-Turkiye Business and Investment Forum, which will bring together top investors, companies, and business representatives from both nations.
The HLSCC serves as the highest-level decision-making body guiding strategic cooperation between Pakistan and Turkiye.
Several Joint Standing Committees (JSCs) operate under its framework, covering sectors such as trade, investment, banking, finance, culture, tourism, energy, defense, agriculture, transport, communication, IT, health, science and technology, and education.
So far, six sessions of the HLSCC have been held, with the last one taking place in Islamabad on February 13-14, 2020.
Pakistan and Turkiye share deep-rooted, historic, and fraternal ties. The FO spokesperson emphasized that President Erdogan’s visit and the 7th HLSCC session would further strengthen bilateral relations and expand multifaceted cooperation between the two countries.
