Lahore: The Punjab government has imposed Section 144 across the province to maintain peace and order during Muharram-ul-Haram.
During the month of Muharram, strict security measures have been implemented across Punjab, including the enforcement of Section 144.
According to a notification issued by the Punjab Home Department, various restrictions will be in effect from the 1st to the 10th of Muharram (27th June to 6th July) to maintain peace during processions and gatherings.
The notification states that no new events or processions will be authorized outside the approved ones for Muharram. Displaying weapons or incendiary materials in public places is prohibited, and any provocative slogans, gestures, or statements that incite public emotions are also strictly forbidden.
Furthermore, building barricades on rooftops of structures along procession routes, collecting stones, bricks, bottles, or trash at these locations, and presence as spectators are banned.
Restrictions will also apply to elderly citizens, women, law enforcement personnel, and double riding (two persons on one motorcycle), especially during the 9th and 10th of Muharram, when enforcement will be particularly strict.
The Punjab Home Department has taken these measures to ensure peace and prevent any untoward incidents. The public is urged to abide by these regulations to facilitate a peaceful and respectful observance of Muharram.
