Punjab Information Minister Azma Bukhari has stated that the people of Punjab do not support disruptive or protest-based politics. She emphasized that reopening the roads of Parachinar is the responsibility of Ghulam Sarwar Khan, not Maryam Nawaz.
In a press conference in Lahore, Azma Bukhari mentioned that it has been 10 months since Maryam Nawaz assumed office as Chief Minister, and the progress report of the government is available. She further added that 2024 has been a great year for the people of Punjab.
Azma Bukhari expressed optimism, stating that 2024 will end on a positive note with good news and happiness, citing improvements in the stock exchange, inflation rates between 4-5%, and the shift from a deficit to a surplus in the country's account.
She also praised Maryam Nawaz for proving that achieving progress doesn't necessarily require holding a high position, highlighting that managing the government was a new experience for her. Bukhari mentioned that Maryam Nawaz had initiated projects that previous rulers had not undertaken.
She further stated that the people of Punjab do not support disruptive politics, and that the Ramadan support package has been delivered to 6.4 million families. She also noted that security issues in Kurram and Parachinar continue to persist.
Azma Bukhari concluded by saying reopening the roads of Parachinar is the responsibility of Ghulam Sarwar Khan, not Maryam Nawaz. The Punjab air ambulance is providing services in Parachinar, while protests are taking place in Karachi and Lahore, causing road closures.
