Islamabad: President Asif Ali Zardari has called on party workers to uphold democratic unity, underlining that the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) remains unwavering in its mission to build a progressive and inclusive Pakistan.

In his message on the 58th Foundation Day of PPP, Zardari paid heartfelt tribute to Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto and Benazir Bhutto, recognizing the party’s decades-long struggle as a cornerstone in strengthening Pakistan’s democracy.

He highlighted PPP’s historic resistance against authoritarian rule and its pivotal role in restoring citizens’ rights. Zardari particularly praised the 1973 Consensus Constitution, describing it as a landmark achievement and a lasting gift from Zulfikar Ali Bhutto to the nation.

President Zardari emphasized that the party’s efforts have contributed to national stability, federal cohesion, and reforms in Gilgit-Baltistan and Azad Kashmir. He also recalled PPP’s instrumental role in laying the foundation of Pakistan’s nuclear program, a critical pillar of national security.

He noted that initiatives related to land reforms, labor rights, education, and social justice define PPP’s legacy. From the MRD movement to the ARD alliance, the party has consistently led the country’s democratic progress.

Milestones such as the Charter of Democracy and the 18th Amendment reflect its enduring commitment to democratic governance.

Zardari further stressed that PPP has always championed the rights of workers, farmers, women, and minorities. He emphasized that empowering marginalized communities is essential for Pakistan’s prosperous future.

Party workers were urged to continue fostering democratic unity, reinforcing PPP’s vision for a tolerant, inclusive, and forward-looking nation.

Concluding his message, Zardari reaffirmed PPP’s dedication to democracy, equality, and social justice, noting that the party’s active participation in the National Action Plan remains crucial for national stability and progress.
