Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif met Saudi Arabia’s Chief of General Staff, General Fayyadh bin Hamed Al-Ruwaili, at the Prime Minister’s House today.
The Prime Minister warmly welcomed the visiting military chief and conveyed his best wishes for the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman.
The Prime Minister said Pakistan and Saudi Arabia share historic brotherly ties rooted in faith, values, and mutual trust, extending across economic, defence, and security sectors. He appreciated the Kingdom’s consistent support and solidarity with Pakistan.
Referring to his successful visits to Riyadh over the past two months, the Prime Minister highlighted the signing of a landmark strategic defence agreement between the two countries, calling it a major step that has taken bilateral defence relations into a new era. He reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to further strengthening defence cooperation through joint exercises, training programs, and the exchange of expertise.
He added that Pakistan and Saudi Arabia stand united against terrorism and extremism and will continue their joint efforts for regional peace and stability.
General Al-Ruwaili conveyed good wishes from the Saudi leadership for the Prime Minister and the people of Pakistan. He said Saudi Arabia is committed to elevating its existing defence and strategic partnership with Pakistan to even greater heights.
Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Ishaq Dar, Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, Defence Minister Khawaja Muhammad Asif, Special Assistant Tariq Fatemi, and other senior officials from both sides were also present at the meeting.
