According to officials, the Karakoram Express, Shah Hussain Express, and Khushhal Khan Khattak Express have been suspended for now. Passengers booked on these trains are being shifted to the Business Express instead.
Alongside the cancellations, several other trains are facing delays. The Pakistan Express to Rawalpindi, originally scheduled for 2:00 pm, will now depart at 3:45 pm. The Allama Iqbal Express to Sialkot will leave at 6:15 pm, almost three hours late, while the Tezgam to Rawalpindi will now depart at 7:30 pm, two hours behind schedule. Railway officials said passengers affected by these changes are being offered alternative travel arrangements.
In a separate development, PR has decided to improve facilities and enhance safety measures for passengers. This decision came during a meeting chaired by the Minister for Railways, Muhammad Hanif Abbasi, at the Ministry of Railways.
The meeting focused on passenger welfare, especially for women and differently-abled persons. The Minister announced that gender-sensitive protocols will be introduced at stations and on trains to ensure safe, respectful, and comfortable travel for women.
These steps will include awareness posters at stations, regular safety announcements, gender-sensitization training for railway staff, and a wide awareness campaign on women’s safety across the railway network.
