ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Customs collected a record Rs. 467 billion in total taxes on imports in June 2026, a 33% increase from the Rs. 350.3 billion collected during the same month last year, officials said.

The figures mark the department's highest-ever monthly collection, according to a statement from the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR).

Customs Duty collection alone reached Rs. 158 billion in June, a 24% increase over the Rs. 127 billion collected in June 2025. Officials said the total surpassed the department's highest-ever monthly target of Rs. 144 billion, reaching 110% of the goal despite ongoing tariff rationalization measures.

For the full 2025-26 fiscal year, total taxes on imports reached Rs. 4,692 billion, up 13.6% from Rs. 4,131 billion the previous year. Customs Duty for the year totaled Rs. 1,331 billion, a 4% increase that officials said represented 99% of the annual target.

Petroleum Development Levy collections on imports rose 20% for the year, climbing to Rs. 752 billion from Rs. 628 billion in the prior fiscal year.

FBR Chairman Rashid Mahmood Langrial credited the results to the department's dual focus on trade facilitation and revenue collection.

"Surpassing the monthly target by a significant margin reflects our commitment to facilitating trade while ensuring optimal revenue collection for the national exchequer," Langrial said.

Officials attributed the performance to intelligence-led operations, anti-smuggling efforts and increased vigilance at customs borders and ports nationwide, under the direction of Member Customs Operations Syed Shakeel Shah.

"This outstanding performance is a testament to the efficiency, transparency, and digital transformation initiatives undertaken by Pakistan Customs," Shah said. The department said it plans to continue expanding the use of digital tools and streamlined procedures to sustain revenue growth into the new fiscal year.
