Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur on Tuesday again stressed that the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf is united and warned that any attempt to topple the provincial government through constitutional ways would not succeed.
Gandapur said no matter how hard anyone tries, their government cannot be removed through constitutional means.
He added that if anyone thinks they can bring down their government, he challenges them and will leave politics if they succeed. He said anyone thinking they can create divisions within PTI is wrong. Gandapur spoke at a press conference along with the central PTI leadership after a party meeting in Islamabad.
The KP chief minister said that the day’s meeting sent a clear message of unity within the party. He said their authority and the government belong fully to the PTI founder and whenever he orders, the government can be dissolved but nothing can be achieved constitutionally.
He said the Constitution had been violated and PTI’s mandate was stolen.
Gandapur criticised the 26th Constitutional Amendment, calling it an attack on the judiciary and a stain on Pakistan’s judicial and democratic systems. He said May 9 was just used as an excuse and the real target was their party’s founder.
He said PTI leaders were elected with the founder’s votes and that the aim of the meeting was to show unity. He said after these events their seats were taken, references were sent against their MNAs and punishments were given. He said when they asked for meetings about KP’s budget, they were not given.
Barrister Gohar said they will protect the KP government at all costs and that those wanting to bring a no-confidence motion do not have enough numbers. He said PTI’s government stands and will continue. He said if there are to be talks, proper steps must be taken.
PTI Secretary-General Salman Akram Raja said February 8 was historic as people came out in big numbers. He said this is not just politics but a fight for rights and they will fight for the PTI founder and win. PTI spokesperson Sheikh Waqas Akram asked the Chief Justice to form a judicial commission to investigate the deaths of jailed PTI workers, saying many were released after 10 or 11 months in jail and most came out sick.
PTI KP President Junaid Akbar said all party leaders from the National Assembly and KP Assembly were at the meeting and despite internal differences, they will follow every order of the PTI founder.
