Widespread monsoon rains with scattered heavy and very heavy falls are expected in Islamabad, Rawalpindi, and various regions of Pakistan starting Monday night, continuing through Tuesday and Wednesday, with occasional breaks.
According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), a depression located west of Madhya Pradesh in India is moving westward. This depression is drawing strong monsoon currents into the southern parts of Pakistan, which are likely to extend to the upper regions by evening or night. Additionally, a trough of westerly wave is present over the upper parts of the country.
As a result of these conditions, widespread rainfall is anticipated in the twin cities, Sindh, northeastern and southern Balochistan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Punjab, the Pothohar region, Kashmir, and Gilgit-Baltistan from Monday night over the next two days. Scattered areas may experience very heavy rainfall accompanied by gusty winds and windstorms.
The heavy rains pose a risk of flooding or inundation in low-lying areas of Sindh, Balochistan, and southern Punjab. Flash floods are also possible in local streams and hill torrents, particularly in Dera Ghazi Khan, Dadu, Kalat, Khuzdar, Jaffarabad, Sibi, Naseerabad, Barkhan, Loralai, Awaran, Panjgur, Washuk, Mastung, and Lasbela.
Heavy rains may trigger landslides in Murree, Galliyat, Mansehra, Kohistan, Chitral, Dir, Swat, Shangla, Buner, Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan. Urban flooding may occur in low-lying areas of Islamabad/Rawalpindi, Gujranwala, Lahore, Sheikhupura, Kasur, Sialkot, Sargodha, Faisalabad, Multan, Sahiwal, Nowshera and Peshawar from 26th (night) to 30th August.
Islamabad’s maximum temperature will likely remain between 36-38°C on Tuesday and 34-36°C on Wednesday.
Rawalpindi’s maximum temperature will likely remain between 34-36°C on Tuesday and 33-35°C on Wednesday.
Meanwhile, hot and humid weather prevailed over most parts of the country during the last 24 hours. However, isolated rain-wind/thundershowers occurred in lower Sindh, northeastern Balochistan, upper Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, northeastern Punjab, Potohar Region and Kashmir.

Dalbandin remained the hottest place in Pakistan where the maximum temperature was recorded at 43°C. The maximum temperature in Bhakkar was recorded at 41°C, and Dera Ismail Khan, Noorpur Thal and Kot Addu at 40°C.
In Islamabad, maximum temperature was recorded at 37°C. Relative humidity in the evening was recorded at 82 percent.
In Rawalpindi, maximum temperature was recorded at 35°C. Relative humidity in the evening was recorded at 66 percent.
