KPT signs agreement with Karachi Shipyard to enhance port operations

KARACHI: Karachi Shipyard & Engineering Works (KS&EW) has signed an agreement with the Karachi Port Trust (KPT) to construct and deliver two mooring boats, according to reports on Friday.

A statement said that KPT Chairman Rear Admiral Habib-ur-Rehman and KS&EW Managing Director Rear Admiral Salman Ilyas attended the signing ceremony.

The mooring boats will facilitate berthing and unberthing operations, prevent ship collisions, and assist with towing, escorting, line handling, cargo operations, spill response, and waste management.

KPT remains committed to enhancing its maritime infrastructure and operational efficiency through this collaboration.

Karachi Port Trust (KPT) and Karachi Shipyard & Engineering Works (KS&EW) have consistently worked together to strengthen Pakistan’s maritime infrastructure.

KPT continues its efforts to modernize port operations with this recent agreement for two mooring boats. These boats play a crucial role in maintaining safety and efficiency in port activities, including berthing, towing, and waste management.

Karachi Shipyard has leveraged its expertise in shipbuilding to construct various vessels, including bulk carriers and tankers. This partnership reinforces Karachi’s strategic role as a key maritime industry player, both in Pakistan and across the region.

Additionally, KPT has undertaken significant projects, including agreements with international entities like AD Ports Group to develop terminals and upgrade infrastructure. These initiatives seek to establish Karachi as a leading trade and logistics hub in South Asia.
