Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi has announced that Saidpur Village in Islamabad will be developed into an international-standard tourist and commercial hub, complete with modern facilities for visitors.
Following his directions, authorities have launched a large-scale operation against illegal constructions and encroachments in the model village. Several buildings that had been occupied for years without rent payment were vacated, and the operation is being carried out across 360 kanals of land where unauthorized structures were built after 2005.
Minister Naqvi personally visited Saidpur Village to review the anti-encroachment campaign and the ongoing beautification projects. He instructed the Capital Development Authority (CDA) and District Municipal Administration (DMA) to take strict action against illegal structures without any favoritism. He also stressed that all vacated properties must be auctioned fairly and transparently.
To add more life to the area, the minister announced that famous restaurants from Karachi and Lahore will soon open in Saidpur, making it an attractive spot for locals and tourists alike. He said the revival of Saidpur would not only enhance Islamabad’s beauty but also give residents a new recreational destination.
The minister also directed CDA and DMA to ensure proper cleanliness and improve facilities around the village. During a briefing, CDA Chairman Muhammad Ali Randhawa shared that satellite imagery is being used to track illegal constructions made after 2005, while efforts are also underway to restore the village’s green core area.
Senior officials, including CDA members, ADCG, and SSP Operations, accompanied the minister during his visit.
