ISLAMABAD: Foreign Minister of Iran Abbas Araghchi held separate telephone conversations with Chief of Defence Forces (CDF) Field Marshal Asim Munir and Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister of Pakistan Ishaq Dar to discuss the evolving regional situation and ceasefire-related matters.
According to Iranian media reports, the discussions focused on ongoing developments in the region and efforts aimed at maintaining and strengthening the ceasefire.
A spokesperson for the Foreign Office of Pakistan also confirmed the call between the two foreign ministers, stating that both sides exchanged views on regional dynamics and ceasefire progress between Pakistan and Iran.
During the call, both foreign ministers exchanged views on the evolving regional situation, ongoing ceasefire developments, and diplomatic efforts aimed at de-escalation.
The discussion also covered diplomatic engagements related to contacts between the United States and Iran, with Islamabad’s facilitation efforts coming under focus.
Ishaq Dar emphasized the importance of sustained dialogue and continuous engagement to resolve outstanding issues, stressing that early progress is essential for ensuring lasting peace and stability in the region.
The Iranian foreign minister appreciated Pakistan’s constructive and consistent role as a facilitator in the diplomatic process.
Both leaders agreed to remain in close contact to advance shared objectives of regional peace and cooperation.
It is pertinent to note that Pakistan has been making consistent efforts to help secure a ceasefire between the United States and Iran.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Field Marshal Asim Munir along with Ishaq Dar has been in continuous contact with key stakeholders, including the United States and Iran, as part of these diplomatic initiatives.
