The federal government has taken a proactive step to alleviate financial burdens on deserving families by increasing the cash stipend under the Benazir Income Support Programme's (BISP) Kafaalat initiative.
After completing the survey, families listed among the beneficiaries will now receive a quarterly payment of Rs 10,500, up from the previous amount, aiming to ease their financial strain amidst inflation and rising food prices.
BISP Taleemi Wazaif Update 2024
In a comprehensive move towards educational support, the government has also amplified the amount for Taleemi Wazaif, benefiting students and their families.For female students in primary classes, the stipend has been raised to Rs2,500, with secondary and higher secondary students receiving Rs3,500 and Rs4,500, respectively. Moreover, female students completing primary education will receive an additional Rs3,000 bonus.
Eligibility Criteria for the Benazir Kafaalat Program
The beneficiaries of the "Benazir Kafaalat Programme" are selected through a scientific proxy means test (PMT) based on the National Socio-Economic Registry (NSER) survey.The PMT assesses the welfare status of households on a scale of 0-100, with the approved cut-off score currently set at 32 by the BISP Board.
Families meeting this score receive cash assistance under the Benazir Kafaalat Programme. However, households with a differently-abled member have a PMT cut-off score set at 37 for eligibility.
This strategic increase in financial support reflects the government's commitment to addressing the economic challenges faced by vulnerable families, ensuring that essential needs are met and educational opportunities are enhanced for students.
