Cop martyred in militants' firing in Bannu

BANNU: At least one police officer was martyred in an attack by militants in Bannu, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, on Wednesday. The incident took place in the jurisdiction of Ahmedzai Sub-division Wazir Police Station, where militants opened fire, resulting in the martyrdom of Head Constable Wazir Zada.

The officer’s body was moved to DHQ for a post-mortem examination, according to police sources.

In a separate incident, earlier on Monday, a policeman was killed and a polio worker was injured in an attack by unknown assailants in the Karak district. The policeman was guarding a team involved in the anti-polio drive in Banda Dawood Shah.

Additionally, a shooting incident on Monday morning in the Saddar police station jurisdiction of Bannu district resulted in the injury of a police officer who had been securing an anti-polio drive.

The injured officer, identified as Hayat Ullah, sustained bullet wounds, and authorities have suggested the motive may have been personal enmity.

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa's Chief Minister, Ali Amin Gandapur, has taken notice of both incidents and instructed senior officials to provide detailed reports.
