TEL AVIV: The conflict between Israel and Iran has entered its fifth consecutive day of hostilities, with both nations exchanging attacks.
US President Donald Trump has issued a stark warning, urging Iranian civilians to evacuate Tehran amid escalating tensions and criticizing Iran’s rejection of a nuclear deal.
During the G7 summit in Canada, world leaders expressed concern over the ongoing violence. They emphasized that Iran should never possess nuclear weapons and reaffirmed Israel’s right to self-defense.
French President Emmanuel Macron revealed that Trump, who left the summit early due to the crisis, had proposed a ceasefire between Iran and Israel, encouraging stakeholders to consider dialogue.
Trump reiterated his stance against Iran’s nuclear ambitions, stating on social media: “Iran should have signed the deal I advised. What a shame—everyone should immediately evacuate Tehran!”
Reports indicate that the White House is exploring the possibility of a high-level meeting this week between US envoy Steve Witkoff and Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, though details remain unconfirmed.
Meanwhile, Defence Secretary Pete Hegseth affirmed the US aims for a nuclear agreement but pledged to protect American assets in the region.
Iranian media reported multiple explosions and intense air defense activity in Tehran early Tuesday, with smoke billowing from the city's eastern areas following suspected Israeli strikes.
Additional attacks targeted nuclear facilities in Natanz, located about 200 miles from Tehran. Late Monday, Israel claimed responsibility for striking Iran’s broadcasting infrastructure, with reports of casualties and damage.
