The Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS) reported yesterday that the weekly inflation, measured by the Sensitive Price Indicator (SPI), decreased by 0.79 percent across different consumption groups for the week ending April 18.
According to PBS data, prices increased for 22 out of 51 items, decreased for 11, and remained stable for 18 during the specified period.
The Federal Minister for Commerce, Jam Kamal Khan, conducted important meetings with representatives from the Sugar Mills Association and Ethanol Manufacturer Association separately to discuss and address their respective industry concerns.
The purpose of these meetings was to foster dialogue and identify practical solutions to the sectors' challenges. The associations appreciated the approach of consulting stakeholders before making important decisions.

Minister Jam Kamal reiterated his dedication to advocating for industrialists' interests and resolving their issues to bolster local industries and increase export volumes for improved foreign reserves during the discussions.
The Sugar Mills Association voiced concerns about the anticipated increase in tariffs for molasses exports and stressed the significance of promoting molasses exports to bolster foreign reserves.
