ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC) has announced changes in the schedule of the Medical and Dental College Admission Test (MDCAT) due to the prevailing flood situation.
According to PMDC, the decision to revise the schedule was taken on the instructions of Federal Health Minister Mustafa Kamal.
The council further stated that the move was finalized after consultations with representatives from all four provinces, Azad Jammu and Kashmir, and Gilgit-Baltistan.
Federal Minister of Health Mustafa Kamal said that the MDCAT rescheduled to resolved the problems facing the students in the flood affected areas.
It is pertinent to mention that MDCAT was to be held on October 5, 2025, but after the re -schedule, the test will now be held on Sunday, October 26, 2025.
Earlier, Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC) had announced new exam centers for the Medical and Dental College Admission Test (MDCAT) 2025 to make it easier for students, especially those from remote areas.
Under the new plan, students from Sindh and Balochistan will now have the option to take the test in Islamabad. Jacobabad has also been added as a new center, giving relief to students from upper Sindh who previously had to travel long distances to Karachi, Hyderabad, Mirpurkhas, Larkana, Shaheed Benazirabad, or Sukkur.
Many students and parents had complained about the financial burden and stress of traveling for the exam. A female candidate from Jacobabad said she was relieved by the decision.
Last year, she had to travel nine hours to Karachi, where the long journey, unfamiliar surroundings, and overcrowded arrangements made the test even more stressful.
