Islamabad: Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif met with Khair Muhammad, father of mixed martial arts (MMA) fighter Shahzaib Rind, and presented a cheque of Rs 5 million to him on behalf of the government.
The Prime Minister lauded Shahzaib Rind's international achievements and extended his best wishes for the fighter's upcoming competitions.
This development comes shortly after Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Attaullah Tarar publicly apologized to Shahzaib Rind for the government's delay in fulfilling its promises. In a social media message, Tarar attributed the delay to a "misunderstanding" and expressed regret for the inconvenience caused.
Attaullah Tarar emphasized that national heroes are celebrated at all levels and stated that the Prime Minister took strict notice of the unnecessary delay, issuing immediate orders for its resolution.
It is pertinent to recall that Shahzaib Rind had recently voiced his disappointment over unfulfilled pledges from the Prime Minister and expressed hope that his concerns would be addressed.
