PESHAWAR: In light of the intense heatwave affecting the region, the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has issued an official alert for the entire province.
According to the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA), severe heat is expected in the province from May 20 to 24 and alert has been issued to all the district administration in this regard.
PDMA officials said that people should be kept informed of the heatwave through awareness campaign, the elderly and the children do not get out of the sun directly from 10 to 5 in the morning.
PDMA officials say that the speed of melting snow in the upper areas is possible.
Earlier,Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) forecast rain accompanied by strong winds in various parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Punjab, while warning of continued hot and dry conditions in most parts of Sindh and Balochistan.
According to the Met Office, Islamabad and its surrounding areas are likely to remain partly cloudy, with a chance of rain and gusty winds in some places.
In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, while most districts are expected to remain hot and dry, scattered showers with strong winds have been forecast for upper regions including Chitral, Dir, Swat, Kohistan and Battagram. Rain is also expected in Peshawar, Swabi, Mansehra and Abbottabad.
