At least seven people lost their lives and 33 others were injured in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa after strong winds and heavy rain hit several districts.
The severe weather caused roofs and walls of many houses to collapse, leading to deaths, injuries, and property damage. According to the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA), the incidents took place during the last 24 hours.
The province experienced heavy rainfall, strong windstorms, and lightning in different areas. Emergency teams continued to assess the damage caused by the bad weather.
Most of the casualties were reported from Bannu, Shangla, and Mansehra. In these districts, several homes and boundary walls collapsed due to the intense weather conditions.
The PDMA said many families were affected and urged people to remain careful as unstable weather may continue.
The authority has released a damage report and advised residents to follow safety precautions. People have been asked to avoid unnecessary travel during bad weather and stay away from weak structures.
Meanwhile, the Pakistan Meteorological Department has forecast partly cloudy weather for Islamabad. The temperature is expected to reach 34 degrees Celsius. Winds may continue to blow throughout the day at a moderate speed.
The weather department has also predicted rain and thunderstorms in Kashmir, upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and Gilgit-Baltistan. Some areas of Gilgit-Baltistan may receive light rainfall later in the day.
In Karachi, the weather is likely to remain partly cloudy. Strong winds may blow at different times during the day.
The temperature could rise to 36 degrees Celsius, while humidity levels are expected to remain high. According to the Met office, winds are currently blowing from the west.
